Good luck 73Thumper!

I know some dealers really are bad. But, truthfully, I have seen some owners at my dealership act pretty bad, and I am 100% sure I am getting better service than them as a result - especially since I tell the service people how much I appreciate them doing their job and express it with a little "gift" here and there.

Should we all get gr8 service without the above? YES. But come on, this is the real world. Again, all at once: "Be nice to people and they will generally be nice back and want to help you".

Sorry, this has gone off topic, but it is an important point for the OP to remember, who is new to the game!

Re: UltraView not closing

I bought my car in Texas used so finding a dealer near me in Cincinnati, was a little nerve wracking to me. I didn't want to get the "oh you didn't buy it here, so you get the cobalt and are last in line". The good news was I didn't get that at all. Around here there are enough dealers that if you don't like them, you can just go to another, I guess it is just an example of competition working. The dealer I went to is top-notch and I couldn't be more pleased. I would have much prefered to have the same experiance I had with my 2000 Grand Prix GTP, where I never had to visit the dealer, but I understand more complex cars are more likely to need service. Luckily it was a positive experience.

Re: UltraView not closing

bigdaddysrd: what are TSB's?

73thumber: I also saved big bucks and got what I wanted in the process.

I believe I sticking with my local Chevy dealer to work on my new caddy; As my best friend stated "they are all GM certified" and the service manager treats me well. I do believe it depends on the dealership. I had big concerns about finding someone after by out of state but it all worked out for me.

73thumber: I also saved big bucks and got what I wanted in the process although the dealer made it a horrible experience. I still think about calling GM but wasn’t sure what good it would do. I hope they send me a satisfaction survey. My wife says she does not want to by another caddy again because of it but I explained it was the dealers fault and not GM. Funny enough the dealership is listed in a recent posing today; (Grossinger in Illinois).

Re: UltraView not closing

I have never been back to the dealer I purchased from. They are great, but they are about 100 miles away.
As far as service, the people at Rinke Cadillac in Warren have treated me great. I just treat them how I would like to be treated. (contrary to my previous post which was a joke.)

as I tell them, there's nuthn' Rinke Dink about this service department.

Re: UltraView not closing

I2C,
TSB's are Technical Service Bulletins that are available to review problems documented in multiple vehicles. They are not recalls but assist both the owner and the dealer with diagnostics. Powerful stuff! You can find them here in the Forum as well. It helps to be educated in advance of taking your beloved ride in. I think you see we all agree that you should find a good service dealer and stick with them. Also register your unit with GM Link to keep track of your service/warranty detail. Good tool.
Kind regards,
DB

Re: UltraView not closing

Mine wouldn't close and would creak and rattle and just drive you crazy! I took it in about a month ago and they adjusted and lubed it and it's fine now.
