05 third row seat inop

jus purchased 05 and third row seat is in up position and will not go down. I have read prior posts on this subject and I followed the required sequence of events in owners manual. When I press button, seat moves about a quarter of an inch then stops and chime up front beeps three times. When I press button again, seat reverses for quarter of an inch, then stops and chime begins beeping. When I press recline button for seat, nothing happens but chime up front beeps. I found a bottle of water under seat and wonder could it have caused seat to get off track or in a bind? Any ideas?

Re: 05 third row seat inop

I don't want to state the obvious, but have you tried push the unlock button on the remote three times, and then try to recline?

yes, I did the unlock button 3 times and everything else the manual says must be done. I am perplexed.

Re: 05 third row seat inop

Be sure there are no obstructions -- my seatbelt got in the way one time and the seat would stop as soon as it hit the belt.

Also, maybe try "helping" the seat in the direction its supposed to be going.

Re: 05 third row seat inop

Another dumb question! Have you done the unlock three times on the driver's door and then left the driver's door open and then done the seat button?

Re: 05 third row seat inop

it does appear that the seat bottom is on top of the seat belt receptors in the center of the seat. Tried to "help" seat but to no avail

Re: 05 third row seat inop

I am having the same problem with the third row seat in my SRX 2004. All the previously described steps in this forum did not help in my car. How did you resolve this problem?

Looking forward to your help.

thanks,
ananta

I found that with my 2005 SRX you had to have the engine running. Did you try this?

Ed

Re: 05 third row seat inop

Since the seat is in the "up" position, you can yank the piece of plastic cover under the seat off. make sure there isn't any garbage there; also take a look at the connections and make sure they're clean and are connected properly.
Good luck

Re: 05 third row seat inop

Finally, I took it to the dealership. They scanned and found a code B2375 stored in RSM.The cause was aparently minor - 'Horizontal Seat Motor Connector Has Poor Tension'. They repaired and reassembled the connector. I, of course, paid for the labor charges.

All is well now...
