| | Cadillac Owners Member | | | | Good news code does exist I just talked to the ford engineer today, (same units are used on cadallic, lincoln and ford)
There is a code out there, he would not tell me what it was but he did tell me who does the software design. It is Visteon.
at www.visteon.com
it is a software code that needs to be entered and it does exist. So this is the only clue we are going to get. Lets get cracking on this code |

It would be incomprehensible for GM to be associated with a Ford company (former or not) |

| | Cadillac Owners Fanatic | | | | | Re: Another Nav diagnostic code We've already determined that the unit is a Denso unit. I highly doubt the firmware is written by Visteon. |

| | Cadillac Owners Fanatic | | | | | Re: Another Nav diagnostic code "As of mid-January, Denso navigation systems are available in the Lexus GS 300/400, Lexus LS 400, Jaguar S-Type and the Cadillac Seville."
It's funny that the engineer at the dealership here didn't know about the dvd-playback code himself.
I doubt the navi code exists in the map dvd. But hey why don't you guys split the work and search the 10,000 codes?
I don't have a navigation unit otherwise I would have tried. But each person can try a set (say from 0000-0500, 0500-1000, ... etc).
So, who's up for it? The more volunteers the less work/time needed |

Now, IF Visteon is the "programmer" for Denso, then the supposition would be correct.
We have to find that code!! |

Also call visteon, I have a call into them but no return calls back. Here is their number, everyone call them up
313-755-2800
Maybe say something like you are a navigation dealer and need the code to restore the safeties on the navigation system but lost your technical manual. |

I have my doubts.....if yes then maybe we can get it out of the Alldata manuals - I don't have the Cadillac manuals yet but looking for it. The ones I have for Toyota and BMW are pretty complete.... |

The ones I have for Toyota and BMW are pretty complete.... | I have the SRX service manuals, but they do not have any Nav codes. All it has are dianostic codes from the OBD2 scan tool and how to troubleshoot and repair them. It does, however, often mentions that the tech should consult the Technical Information System (TIS) for the latest repair info. The TIS seems like a secure network only accessable by the dealer. This is where I think the codes are, if any.
After playing with the Nav system for a while, I think the code we are searching for and other similar codes are input after our main Diag pin (1791) and not as a separate code. In other words, 1791 puts us in diagnostic mode, and then we immediately type in another code to access the other subsystem diagnostic features. This is why the keypad stays active after we type in the 1791 pin, and why our previous attempt to divide up the possible combinations turned up nothing. The code to disable the Nav safety features is probably a 2-stage code (ie: 1791 <Enter> xxxx <Enter> <Return>).
The search continues... |

| | Cadillac Owners Fanatic | | | | | Re: Another Nav diagnostic code I'm skeptical that these codes are formally documented anywhere at/by the vehicle manufacturer(s). I think these override codes are written by the firmware/software developers of the OEM unit (i.e. Denso, Visteon, etc.) as backdoors for testing, etc. but are not intended for consumer access or use. If I am GM, I don't even want to know about these codes--much less give my service people or consumers access to them. Why would they? They only open potential problems and legal liability to GM. |

We need to get some people together to access the web from germany, UK places like that were they would not put up with crap like this. I have tried to access some data from other countries but still no luck.
How about retailers who install nav systems for a living? does anyone know of companies they can call and ask this information?
Who is a denso retailer? They might know? Also there is firmware on the denso unit when you access the diag area. Someone needs to access this firmware and view it.
I think the pin numbers are going to be somewhere between 100-2000, lets start there first... |

| | Cadillac Owners Member | | | | | Re: Another Nav diagnostic code I just found out that Jag cars also include the navigation system in it. We may have better luck contacting the jag dealer to get these codes to disable the safety features. Or if someone knows someone out of the usa can call a Jag dealer or a Lincoln dealer we may have better luck getting this information. |

Soooo, I decided to see if I could contribute here. My thought would be to call in and get a local visteon account manager and see what they had to say. The one I got was a very nice lady that was eager to find the Cadillac OEM team and get me the name and number of the right person on the team.
I positioned myself as a representative of a cadillac enthusiast forum supporting the SRX.
Once I get the OEM team, they may be able to get me briefly in touch with a techie or liaise with a techie. we shall see. i know they will not want to just give the information, so I will have to do some work.
wish me luck
