I would like to share some findings/thoughts which may be of interest.
Firstly related to a recent posting - when I enter 1791 the keypad screen remains, all other codes I tried default to the Cadillac logo screen.
But here's what I found out. The "feature programming" function which is normally disabled when driving also becomes available after entering 1791. Did anyone else notice that?
Here is my personal take on this .. I believe that 1791 disables some device specific locks when driving, i.e. feature programming, DVD eject, DVD playback. I think the Navigation system is running in it's own software environment, therefore the same code doesn't have any impact (= enabling input on the Navigation system). To me it seems that there is a device firmware, and a separate Navigation app which is on the DVD. Both being separate. I guess what I am really saying is that we yet don't know whether we need to look at the device firmware, or the software code on the DVD...
BTW - I love this site, and thanks for all the great contributions! |

So what I am thinking is that they can't have to go through the agree screen every time they power these up after working on them. There has to be codes that enable them to check the units. Now someone that is more tech savvy than I, should call and see if they can get any info on these units.

Dechief | There are two ways to get there. The most common is: go to the Nav screen and press "menu" then touch the screen to the right of the yellow Nav Menu and hold, you will get a new screen that shows a keypad and asks for "diag pin".
The other one involves putting in a video DVD and then holding down for a few seconds on some part of the screen that I can't remember. |

| | Cadillac Owners Member | | | | | Re: Another Nav diagnostic code According to Delphi's site ( http://www.delphioffer.com/tnr800/prodinfo.html), the Cadillac Escalade has been host to the TNR800 from Delphi since 2003.
Their FAQ's state the following;
Can TNR800 play DVD movies on its display?
Even though the product has the capability to play video on its display, current product configuration doesn’t have it available in order to comply with safety laws. There are modules in the aftermarket that can activate this capability but it is not supported and recommended by Delphi. In addition, customers who use these modules will lose the Delphi warranty. http://www.delphioffer.com/tnr800/faq.html#dvdmovies
I have tried to access the code input screen mentioned here on my TNR800 without success, and have searched for days to find one of these "after market modules" they mention.
1.) is the TNR800 the same unit you guys are discussing? (probably not, but sounded like from FIDGAF's comments it could be)
2.) anyone seen in your research anywhere I might find a discussion specifically about the TNR800
quite frustrated, any help is appretiated. |

They have not responded to any questions about usability on the STS unit which is very similar.

I Read Every Post- Great Work So Far Re: The Nav Unlock Code. A Friend Who Works For A Major Car Dealership Said He Thinks That The Vss Is Being Used To Detect Motion For The Nav. He Also Said That Is He Couold See The Wiring Diagrams For That Area Of The Car, He Maybe Able To Fool The Nav Unit, Like Someone Said Earlier. Can Anyo Ne Send Me The Wiring Schematic For That Area? He Htinks The Vss Is Branched Off For Several Functions And One Of Them Is For The Nav.
Also Am I Correct In The 'menu>touch/hold To Right Of Yellow Menu Screen>enter 1791' To Enable Dvd While Driving?
Btw I Will Contribute Another $20 To The Solution.

| | Cadillac Owners Member Cadillac(s): Cadillac | | | | | Re: Another Nav diagnostic code I would like to try this, but I am not going to based on one service rep. That's a big gamble, since it would brick the NAV unit if it wasn't the right software. And I'm pretty sure that isn't covered in the warranty. |
