Problem w/ Watching DVDs

I have read all the threads I could find on this subject, and didn't see this question answered.
I used the 1791 code on my '04 SRX to try to watch the kids dvd. The message I get is: Please insert a map disk or something like that. I bought a used '04, so I don't know if that feature was disabled by a GM mechanic. My kids are begging for a DVD in the car, so I was hoping to make this work.

Any help is appreciated.

hit enter then return
put dvd in

if its asking for a map DVD and you have a dvd in it then your drives bad, and theyll replace the unit
but the replacement unit the 1791 will not work on

Does it work when you are not driving?

Yes, it works when in park. I was hitting the music note and code when the DVD was already in the player...maybe that's my mistake? Do I put in the code, then tilt it out and put in the movie? Thanks for your patience, I'm a newbie and have had the car a month. I'm really loving everything about it...esp. the heated seats!

the newer units no longer have the 1791 bypass...

That must be it...I just tried it again. It doesn't wait for me to hit return after I hit enter. It automatically takes me to a screen that says "The disk you have inserted is not a MAP disk" I was hoping to make it work. My next option is the headrest screens. Has anyone had luck installing those? The screen/player that are in the headrests? I would be hiring someone to do it, I'm not at all technical.
