Empty space in jack compartment tray ??

I was checking the jack compartment in my 06 3row SRX (NO WATER!! ).

Under the headrests the jack and lug wrench are snapped into a plastic tray.

Infront of the jack and directly under the padded part of the headrest. The tray has a rectangular opening, with four tabs.

Is something suppopsed to be in that area ?

Made me go look. There is no room at all when the headrests are in place. It appears to be made that way so the plastic tray will seat to the carpet so the tray is tight. The tabs? Possibly nothing more than parting tabs that gives excess plastic some place to go when the part is molded.

I have space between the carpet and the tabs (or bottom of head rests) don't you ?

I thought it might be for a plastic bag to store the blown tire in (Mercedes has such).

One of my tires has a plug and I thought the previous owner didn't replace the bag. If not I will keep one there anyway.

The 07 has the plastic storage bag. Without looking don't recall storage details but it's there.
