| | Cadillac Owners Fanatic Cadillac(s): Cadillac | | | | | How does your leather fit? Seems the biggest rub on my new SRX is the poor fit of the leather in the front seats. The leather itself and the stitching seems good quality, but it continues to get more and more wrinkled, loose, and sagging. The passenger seat in particular has at least one inch of excess in the side bolster, so it just sags and wrinkles up. It's 3 months old, and looks 5 years old.
On he other hand, the rear seat is Perfecto.
Hows yours? can I complain to GM?

Rear seat (2 kids) looks great as well. |

Mine looks so bad, I have to make excuses for it when I show my friends the otherwise beautiful new interior design. I doubt GM will do anything other than the usual "hands-in-the-air", but maybe it will go down in the feedback loop somewhere.
Several years ago I ordered a new Corvette, and it arrived on the front of the truck with bugs seriously baked into the paint. We had to use rubbing compound to cut the stains off. I made a big noise about that to various Chevy groups, especially when I saw a truck of Kia's with protective tape on the front. The next year thay started taping the Vette that rode on the front of the transport; maybe my carping actually helped.

But then again my last vehicle was a 1963 International Scout that had lawn chairs for front seats so I am not that picky. |

Driver's seat is the only one that shows any type of wear. And even then, it isn't that much. Still better than anything you can find from other auto manufactures. |

The side bolsters on my front seats were too hard (especially on long trips), so I went to an upholstery shop where they cut a 1" section out of the middle of the bolster and replaced it with a piece of lower density foam. The seats look exactly the same but they are much more comfortable to sit on. |

When our '04 SRX went back to the dealer last month with ~50k miles on the odo, all seats looked near-new - certainly no discernable sagging or discoloration.
I'd ask for a remedy of some sort. |

DG | I've seen this question pop up often on the Corvette forum. I've had many GM's over the years and drive the heck out of my cars with over 100k before trading in any of them. They were ALL traded in with interiors that looked like new. So when I hear about these kinds of things it begs the questions: How much do you and your passenger weigh? Is there something unique about the way you exit and enter the car? Are you wearing clothing that might be particularly abrasive?
I have a Corvette now that has 55k on it and the driver seat has a few extra wrinkles but no cracks or tearing. I attribute that to the constant enter/exit mine gets from the way I use it. I keep my leather clean with a damp cloth.
I've only got 20k on the 08 SRX and the seats look like showroom. My wife does most of the driving but she's only 120 lbs. I'm about 175. |

It has not gotten any worse after 16 months, just still loose and saggy in several places. Just bad workmanship in the fitting process.
I took the right seat partially apart to see if I could tighten it up, but it's the actual stitching of the cover that is the problem. But I'm learning to live with it. That's a major step in my anti-anal-retentative quest concerning my cars.
Well, gotta run; saw some tiny rocks wedged in the tire treads that must come out NOW!
Cheers,

And at 250 lbs, you'sd think the driver seat would have turned to mush, but nary a stretched seam or double wrinkled side support to be seen.
Now if there was some way to improve the city MPG on the Northstar... |

Now, there's some Christmas gift suggestions!
Merry Christmas guys,
