And as an add on......they don't sell those extended warranties to lose money! My analogy is that all those hotels built in Las Vegas aren't built with winners money!

Re: Extended Warranty from a Distant Dealer

It is all in how long you keep the car, and how much faith you have in the manufacturer. It is a gamble. If car is built correctly, possibly no problems so it is a loss. All the 04 guys (New model line then) probably would win.

Troubleshoot one emmision related vacuum leak, or electrical prob. with a bad tech and you could possibly be more than half paid off.

Need to get the warranty with the most items covered longest mileage for your driving, not care about loosing the down time on the car (ie have a second car or bike) and bring it in for every little problem.

I agree that they are corporate moneymakers. But, for $1500 for another 4 years of piece of mind (400 a year), it may be worth it especially if you buy a factory GMPP. It seems to be a conservative use of money and not analogous to gambling in Vegas. It may be the opposite. Aftermarkets are iffy and a REAL gamble. They tend to file bankruptcy.

I agree with the above. Even if it's just for the peace of mind it's worth buying.
It's like a life insurance or a house insurance for that matter. Why would you buy any kind of insurance if most likely you will not 'use it' - So you can sleep at night...
regards

Re: Extended Warranty from a Distant Dealer

I am in Canada. I was told that any GM dealer in Canada could quote me. I checked for dealers on GM's website by areas and it lists dealers with their email addresses. I made a template with my name, vehicle, year, engine, mileage, vin and started emailing! I emailed many, even chevy dealers, and I can tell you it pays to shop around.

For 72/100 at 100 ded I had 1537 to 2687
For 72/140 at 100 ded I had 3175 to 4487
For 72/140 at 200 ded I had 2250 to 3897

GMPP tells you to shop around! So why not save some cash!
I had alot of emails and prices. Keep track in a worksheet, don't tell your best price and you can get real good prices!

There is some kind of points contest on as well so they want to sell the warranties in Canada, might be in the US but not sure.
