***update rear penion seal****

well i got the call this afternoon, and they told me my car would be out of commission for awhile because while starting to replace the rear penion seal they found metal shaveings, so they ordered an entire rear end drive thing for my awd. well can't complain they are being very nice about the whole thing and they are giving me an arcadia?? i have no idea what it is but it sounds fun.. So if your's is leaking ask them to check, and listen for a humming?? this is how the tech discribed it to me..

What year, how many miles ?

My 06 was leaking @ 22K miles and they replaced the seal.

Sounds like they might be jumping the gun, there will always be "some" metal shavings, but if the fluid actually got too low it is better for them to replace the carrier. Usually when there is damage in the Getrag units they make a humming noise that is worse at highway speed under light load.

The pinion seals were an issue for a while, I am told the new parts are more robust.

I think that is an Acadia, it is GMC's version of your car so you should feel right at home in it.

yeah that what alarmed the tech was a humming noise, then he found the shaveings etc..and david1 it's an 07 v6 awd 10k miles
