Re: Installed my headrest monitors (PICS)

I know this is an old topic but...

I have my iPod. I rather tie into the RSE input an dlisten to it - even though it's not the best quality it'll be better than the FM transmitter.

I was thinking of tapping into the audio that goes to the front. I can place a toggle switch that will decide whether the RSE/or Ipod feeds to the front.

Has anyone who's done this determined which wire(s) is the one that goes to the main speakers?

    VDO or anybody,

Where did you get the lcd and dvd unit adapter/facing for the rear of the center console. It looks totally factory.

I have an 06 ESV and would be interested.

Thanks for the comments. For the power, I tapped into the power of the rear cig lighters. It was conveniently located, provide more than enough amperage, and I wanted the monitors and video amp to be turned off with the aux power (you have to adjust the fuse inside the engine compartment if the cig lighters are constantly on vs. switched).

btw, it's been 2 years since I installed the monitors and I've had no problems with the install or the monitors.

Here's a pic of the monitor for the 3 row passengers:

The owners manual will tell you how. You basically just slide the aux cig lighter fuse over one notch. Remember that you have to wait 10 minutes after you remove the keys for the power to go out. If it still doesn't work, you are missing the cig relay. The relay can be purchased at the dealer for about $13. It is part# 12177234 and has "Omron 7234" stamped on it. It is installed in the under-hood fuse panel right above the fuses for the outlets. You can't miss where the relay goes. I think it's labled "Cigar Relay" in the manual.

Audio from RSE / DVD through speakers

I noted by your previous posts that you are definitely qualified to address this issue. Love your work1
I copy and pasted my continuing problem. Hope you can help

    Thanks
I own a 2004 SRX V8 AWD with a Rear Seat Entertainment system(RSE/DVD) factory installed. The DVD player can play it's audio signal through the car's speakers', but in my vehicle when you do this, the volume is considerably lower than the Radio \ CD functions. The DVD player has the only aux audio input, and I want to hard wire Sirius / IPOD with an RCA to 3.5 mm hook up. However, this is not worth it if the volume from this aux input is very low (I tried it, and it is the same as audio from playing a DVD). The car has been to 3 dealers, and although they each acknowledge the problem, they cannot come up with a diagnosis to warranty a new head unit or new RSE. I finaly got somehere today when a Tech II from Conte Cadillac who advised me that in the 2004 Cadillac SRX some of the first vehicles had RSE's that were unfortunately installed and designed to function this way. I was asked to try and find a VIN # for another 2004 SRX with a DVD player that does not function this way. They are seeking to compare codes in the VIN to see if they can tell if my vehicle is one of these that can't be fixed. If not they are telling me that they want to can change the head unit, and Cadillac will only cover it under warranty if the volume then goes up while playing the DVD audio through the cars speakers. It sounds like a load of shit to me, but I would like to see if I can keep them working on it. I have posted this problem several times in both audio / video forum and SRX forum, with no responses or leads. If you have a 2004 SRX with RSE / DVD please respond to let me know if audio plays normally through car speakers, and if so please list your vin.

    My Vin #: 1GYDE63A840116072

    Thanks

My SRX is also a 2004 and it too has a noticeable volume level difference between the normal cd/radio audio and the RSE DVD audio. The difference, to me anyways, is not that bad. It's a little annoying, but bearable.

Mine is quite considerable. My car is at the dealer now do you mind if I could use your VIN for comparison for Tech II. I'd like to have Cadillac try and rectify while car still under bumper to bumper. If that can't be done, I may try and hook up an audio amp, the way you hooked up a video amp. Nice job by the way.

    Thanks
