    Service Tire Monitor

I've driven the car for 189 miles and I get my first issue (aside from the tailpipes) I have to service my tire monitor system. I no longer get read outs on tire pressure. I think it's probably because I had my wheels changed out for 18" at the dealer, since it wasn't a factory option. They probably screwed something up...I'm taking it in next Monday..let you all know.

    Re: Service Tire Monitor

I got a Service Tire Monitor on my SRX today. The left front monitor is not showing a pressure. How does this system work?

    Re: Service Tire Monitor

The system operates using RF signals sent from the valve stem assemblies. Each wheel has this sensor attached to the valve stem itself and is powered by a very small battery that is encased within the assembly. In the fenders arches of the vehicle, there are receivers that send signals to the central compuer of the truck. Keep in mind that the system monitors tire pressure through a small pinhole in this valve stem. If your wheels were changed out, they did not take the valve stems from your factory wheels and instal them in your new ones. They will fit as long as you are using one piece wheels.

    Hope this helps.

What is the service life of the battery thats encased in the stem? Doesn't sound like its replaceable.

1500 miles on my beautiful SRX, and I just got a message on my display screeen "Service Tire Monitor." Is this the same issue that you're talking about here?
