The code is thanks to another furum member, who, by his total absence in over a month, seems to me that he is somewhat sorry he let the code slip.
If you, and some of us here know your "handle", wish to rejoin the discussions here, you will have our utmost respect, gratitude, and asteem.
No one here is going to sue you or GM because we LOOKED at our screens at any speed! We all have to agree to that DAMN screen everytime we start our SRX. That has it covered! We're all adults, or we wouldn't be driving, and have enough invested in our SRXs to not jeopardize it's well-being or our own. |

Try out the code is just fun to know it can be done. And for my wife and children who sit at the front passenger side to enjoy. |

I put my nav disk back in. Only had the srx one day. Maybe when I get used to all the controls, but not yet. Thank you whoever figured that one out. It is just to cool. Thank You. Thank you. Thank you!
How do I cancel this wonderful option if and when I sell the car. I don't want to be liable for someone else getting hurt and blaming me. |

I haven't really tested that. But this past weekend my son was in passenger seat and daughter in the back seat. She wanted to watch a movie but doesn't like to put on the headphones...so I agreed to put it on in front and let my son watch and we all listen. I must admit I was watching quite a bit....but no worse than glancing at the map for the nav system. I agree--this is too cool! :coolgleam |

So now what code do I use to work the nav system while driving. |

Whoa Nellie. You're too new here for THAT secret code! You need to be initiated 1st. A check for $10/ member should suffice.
Actually-----we're ALL looking for that code. You need to read all the threads----been covered "odd-infinitum". See the diagnostic code thread.
Rewards now being offered for the crown jewel of codes! |

The laws have not always kept pace with technology. My brother works as a prosecuter in Wisconsin, and one of the cases brought to him involved someone nabbed for having a video viewable from the drivers seat. On researching the applicable Wisconsin law, it was discovered that the prohibition only applied to BROADCAST video reception, since the law was on the books before tapes and DVD's were an issue. Watching a DVD while driving is not a smart thing to do, but the Wisconsin law didn't prohibit it. That will probably be amended soon though. |

| | Cadillac Owners Member | | | | | Re: DVD playing while car is in motion- priceless ! I hate to say what you all might already know and get yelled at, but here goes; I had my SRX for 2 days. It is way better than the CTS I traded in. The info on this forum is great and I thank you. I tried the 1791 and it works. I then tried to GUESS the nav overide code. Here is what you may have already figured out. When driving, any other number other than 1791 (before yelling, I only tried about twenty differrent combos) goes straight back to the 'unusable while driving' nav screen. But when I try 1791 enter it waits for more numbers. I then guessed about twenty more, (after 1791 enter) but that failed too. So now I will have to wait for someone smarter than me to figure it out and post it. Tommorrow when I'm driving (safetly) I think I will try to overide the dvd with the 1791 code and then eject the dvd and put in the nav disk. Has anybody tried this yet. To overide the dvd safety feature then without shutting off the engine switching over to the nav disk? |

NO---We haven't figured out the ultimate code(s) yet! Yes, your assumption is most likely correct: That the code must have at least 2 parts.
We welcome all your newbie efforts. Fresh thinking can never hurt. |

| | Cadillac Owners Member | | | | | Re: DVD playing while car is in motion- priceless ! Oh well, you probably knew this one already. I tried to do the switch between nav and dvd using the 1791 code to see if then the nav would do what we all want. It did not work, but when I tried to eject the disk using the tilt button, I got the 'not available while driving' I then entered the 1791 and was able to eject the disk using the tilt screen button! I thought I was on to something, but when I put in the nav disk, it still would not let me 'add destination' while driving. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
