    Automatic Car Wash and Antenna

Has anyone taken their SRX through an automatic car wash?

Before you do so, should the onstar antenna on the right rear window be folded down so it is parallel to the ground or just unscrew it?

The manual says nothing about this. I'm a little concerned that if we unscrew it, the bolt that remains on the base that is glued to the window eventually will rust, perhaps harming reception.

It is my wife's car and to her credit, she likes to keep it clean.

Thoughts or suggestions (other than washing it by hand -- would if I had the time)?

Don't know about your problem, but thought you'd be thrilled to know that the new SRXs off the line (picked up mine yesterday) have a short (c. 3") angled stubby rubber ducky antenna centered in rear just above the tailgate.

Man, am I glad I don't have that long whip on the rear quarter window. Sorry to have told you this--really!

    While we're talking antennas:

My passenger side rear quarter window has 8 vertical lines in it, and the driver side rear quarter window has 4 vertical lines in it.

Any ideas why the difference?? One may be radio antenna, and the other NAV antenna. Not sure.

Very nice-definitely the way it should've been done in the first place!

We were told that one side is the AM antenna and the other the FM antenna. Made sense to me. Now if I could get rid of the old fashioned OnStar antenna for one of the new little ones.

Re: Automatic Car Wash and Antenna

Forgot the OP's question. We have the old style antenna and I unscrew it before going through the car wash. I know, it's my wifes, but I happily will do these chores for her so I get to drive it.
