My Srx dropped w/ 20 inch wheels

Remove this ad
I finally recieved my wheels. I ordered a set of Driv' Moonshines from Big Wheels three weeks ago, and just recieved them. They messed up my order twice, and ended up custom drilling a set of blanks from the factory. Yes they are 6x115, however 6x4.5 will work with hub centric rings. I lowered it with a set of Eibach 1.4/1.6 drop springs, and was still able to run a 265/45/20. That is it though. It is a 2006 awd v6, no mrc. If you are wondering how the springs ride, they ride much better than the factory springs. I was worried about that too. I am a dealer, and this is my personal car which is always for sale. Tell me what you think.

Re: My Srx dropped w/ 20 inch wheels

The wheels look a little to0 busy for my taste, but the stance looks great.

How much do those Eibach springs cost installed?

Re: My Srx dropped w/ 20 inch wheels

It depends on the dealer you have put them on. The springs cost 260, but depending on labor rates, it could cost a good chunk. I think a single spring replacement pays an hour to an hour and a half. Then a 4 wheel alingment. It screws with the camber quite a bit in the rear.

Re: My Srx dropped w/ 20 inch wheels

Very nice!

Now you need to get rid of that grey plastic front end. There are a couple of examples of mesh grilles on redline colored SRX's on my thread "installing E&G grille". It would look great with the wheels.

Re: My Srx dropped w/ 20 inch wheels

I would've gotten that color but the wifey won out it looks great, definately get the E&G Dual Mesh grille, it'll really make it look "complete" if you go with the classic mesh from E&G I have a brand new lower half, the one that fits in the slotted openings below the front plate, I can give it to you for $40, shipped. I have no need for it, I have the Dual Mesh E&G on mine, anyway it's sitting in my storage.. Best of Luck, Tony

Re: My Srx dropped w/ 20 inch wheels

I agree with one of the previous posters. Your car has a great stance, but I don't care for the wheels. Keep up the good work. I don't think SRX's get enough attention!

Re: My Srx dropped w/ 20 inch wheels

I love the rims. I also think that the 20's look good on there.
Love the Cadillac red, too!

PS - and the drop looks really cool.

Re: My Srx dropped w/ 20 inch wheels

thinking about lowering mine to make the rims *20's* look bigger. What do you think of the ride change of going to the springs. I am quite worried about doing it

Thanks,
Adam

Re: My Srx dropped w/ 20 inch wheels

It actually rides better. If you can believe that. I did a test with my wife. I changed the springs out one night when she was gone. We aligned it with the factory wheels, and I parked the car in the garage. She drove it for a day, and later that night started telling me how she thought her car was riding smoother. True story. Now keep in mind, it is a non-MRC awd base. It didn't even have tire pressure sensors in it. I don't know if the original springs are different on those cars or not. I can check on that. The Eibach springs ride real smooth on the highway, but when you get into a corner the second stage of the spring is compressed and stiffens up the ride. It corners like a sports car now. However, when you put the 20's on it, you lose the ride again. It still rides better than a stock SRX with 20's. If you're worried, so was I, but I was pleasantly surprised.

How much better or worse does it handle?

Re: My Srx dropped w/ 20 inch wheels

It handles much better. It feels more like a sports car. Took almost all body, brake and aceleration roll out of it. Just squats and hugs. I like it.
