30,000 mile service question

Remove this ad
We just took our 04 SRX for a 30,000 mile service, and they want to charge $1,000 just for the service (not including tire rotation). Seems a bit high to me. Anyone know if that is the proper charge? Thanks.

Re: 30,000 mile service question

Yes, that is over priced, especially when there is no 30k mile service called for in the owners guide. Take a look at your book and you will see how the maintenance I and II programs work. The additional service is listed at 25k (two inspections plus air cleaner) and again at 50k(auto transmission fluid/filter), there are other additional services further on out.

Maint I & II costs me ~$125

Re: 30,000 mile service question

Yeah, if you look in the owner's manual, until you hit 50K miles, the only thing besides the I and II services you need to do is the air filter change around 25K miles.

I believe your dealer should be on a street corner with shells and a pea. Cadillac dealers overcharge as a matter of doing business, but this is closer to criminal grand theft!

Re: 30,000 mile service question

Telephone Cadillac Customer Assistance and file a complaint; your dealer's action is a big reason GM is having problems. My local dealer does the Maintence for $22; I provide the Mobil 1. The service includes the exhaust system and fuel line checks called for at 25,000 miles. Also, dealer installed the new air filter for $0; I bought it in parts department and service manager had a technician put it in (easy job) for free. This is not the dealer where I purchased the car new, and have had "issues." Guess where I shall deal in the future!

Re: 30,000 mile service question

Don't forget that SRX has different (OEM) size tires and that tire rotation is NOT recommended. That should save ~ $675 or so from the outragous fee !!
Good luck

Dealers are just the place to stay away from if at all possible. On the Corvette Forum they're referred to as Stealerships!

Re: 30,000 mile service question

$1000 for 30k mile service? This sounds like out and out theft given that the vehicle is still under warranty. I could see if there was abuse or bodywork but seriously $1000?

Re: 30,000 mile service question

Man, I just got taken with this one too! They charged me $558 and that didn't include the oil change. It was $380 in labor and the rest in parts. I can't belive it took them that long to do the so called "checks" and change a few filters. elnate, did you dispute this with the dealer? I will definalty NOT let them do there recomended service again! I wish I read this before I went in for service.

Re: 30,000 mile service question

Note that dealers typically charge and extra 10% for grease, rags, shop supplies. I negotiate that away since the charge is identified at the cashier's desk and not prior to time of service.

Re: 30,000 mile service question

In Canada they have, from their website
"Cadillac No-Charge Scheduled Maintenance Program.
The first of its kind in the industry, the Cadillac No-Charge Scheduled Maintenance Program offers free scheduled maintenance for your Cadillac during the first four years or 80,000 km of ownership - whichever comes first. The program covers the inspection and replacement or other appropriate service of items such as:
Lube/Oil/Filter
Semi-annual and Annual Service (includes tire rotation)
Air Cleaner Filter
Fuel System Inspection
Throttle Body Cleaning"
80,000 km is like 50,000 miles
Do they not have this in the States?
