I have the following problem:
I own a dark red '97 Seville SLS without the remote keyless entry module inside. There is just a harness unconnected. So, the answer is, if I pick and connect the right module, would it work to open and close the door remotely? Or would I need to use the TECH II? I do have fobs and I know the way how to program them, it has been described in another thread...
Just one more thing... Could anyone of you please tell me, what's the right serial number for that module? I browsed rockauto and gmparts and so on, but wasnt able to find any relevant info.
Thank you very much.

Czech Republic is a post-communist country. There is nothing like official local GM parts dealership until now, where you can go and ask some nice guy for a part number. Nearest official Cadillac shop is some like 350 miles far from here... and they speak German. So I thought it would be better for me to try this great forum first

I suppose the car was delivered without the RKE system from the factory, that was the reason for my first question... If I put this module in, connect antenna etc. would it work?
When I tried programming my fob, I hadn't previously know that the car doesnt have this module. So the computer waited and... after a short while... display showed NO RFA DATA. I looked around and... found no module. So this is what I want to try: buy some used module for a few bucks (need to know the serial), put it in and test.
I live in Ostrava, sometimes go to Prague (capital). You've ever been to Czech? |

I have the FSM for 96, hence I know some details. Where do you get the Fob,?? off a 96 or 97??? It is different from 92 to 95. It will be easier to install an aftermarket like Viper unless you must have the factory system. Let us know how you do it though. Good luck. |

You are definitely right, it is not the same as for 92 to 95. The module that I need is probably different even from '96. Dunno why Cadillac engineers did so many changes between model years... It should have a 4-pin connector instead of larger 13-pin, but I am not sure.
And sure I am thinking of an aftermarket remote, but why don't try to have an factory original first? :-) When I install an aftermarket, wouldn't it interfere with another systems? These cars are full of electronic gadgets... Thank you very much for your responses!! |

Basically clamp on to the door lock relay harness,,,simply put. They come with instructios, easy to understand. Original systems are much complicated as interact with the BCM/PZM, door lock switches, ignition key module/timer & whole lot. just to comprehend the system you need days of reading,,,if not weeks. What is the part no. of the fob you have?? I will buy it off you at eBay price if you decide to sell it, so that you can invest it on an aftermarket system. Let me know thru my website. |

...all these offical export cars till 1997 are delivered without the RKE system from the factory...and this feature couldn`t be ordered so far I know...from 98 up things are changed...
....for "putting in" the factory RKE-system in a 1997 Euro-STS I ordered here in Germany the US-specific RFA-module (remote function actuation) by a GM dealer, the GM-number for a 96 and 97 STS/SLS/Eldorado model is #09352690 (there is a connector and the place for it in the trunk), and get the two key fobs from ebay (GM # 16259819 and 16259829)
...after installing the RFA modul, my GM dealer programed the system/fobs with the Tech II, and it works all fine....! (with all: doors, trunk, gas)....only thing, that can be different to US-Models is maybe the "lightning"...when i open or close the car, at the front the parkinglamps in the in the headlamps (not the turnsignalhousing) are blinking (2 for open, 1 time to close), and at rear each one bulb of the european taillamps on left and right...
...I will try to upload two pics of the modul later ...
Greetings from Germany
