97 STS with Courtesy Light problem

Remove this ad
Has anyone had experience with this Courtesy Light problem?

The problem I have with my 97 Seville STS is that the Courtesy lights stay on while driving. I can't turn them off manually...

This happened all of a sudden two days ago.

They (all 4) go out as programmed ten minutes after shutting the car off.
It seems that the car does not recognize that I have turned on the ignition, yet it works when I turn the ignition off???

I will try to read the codes today to see if that gives and indication of the trouble.

Any advise would be greatly appreciate.

Cliff

Re: 97 STS with Courtesy Light problem

I'm not sure about your car but you might want to check the door locks. I have some what of the opposite on my 97 STS. Sometimes when i open the drivers side door the courtesy lights dont come on. I always wondered were was the button or switch that lets the car know that the door is closed. It seems that it is connected 2 the release latch on the inside of the door. ( the latch the holds the door closed) my problem is that the peice that closes around when the door is closed doesnt come all the way back up when i open the door thus leaving the lights off or the radio playing when i cut the car off and open the door. you might want to start looking there
