I knew one day messing around in the snow would cost me..I have to wait to get in touch with the officer before the car can be released to me. Sadly it isnt driveable. Was making a right turn but didnt quite make it. Ended up side-swiping a tree and snapping the right side tie-rod I assume. Car wouldnt move but I know the front bumper.. quarter panel, mirror and probably door are messed up. Im a little affraid of the insurance company totalling the car.. Im consirned about the fact I couldnt get the car to move at all.. I kind of figured the other wheel would spin but wouldnt. But the airbags didnt go off so that helps. I did look up blue book and was suprised at the suggested retail... I hope to have a quote for the repair and get intouch with the insurance company sometime monday. Had my old SDV repaired at the 'pound' where the car is now though if I recall right they took forever.. Guess Ill have to wait and see..

I haven't been able to accomplish that task just yet.
I have been trying so hard.
LOL you can laugh at me if I do it soon.
I sure hope not though
Sorry to hear that you wrecked the Caddy.
At least we know you probably didn't get hurt |

Glad im fine too.. almost got frost bite on my hands from running home (10 degree's lastnight and windy). It happened at the back entrance to my housing complex.. Decided to take the back roads home because id rather mess around in the snow with no other cars around.. Plus is was 3:30-4am.. Im starting to think something went wrong. Id like to say Im pretty good at driving in the snow and the car didnt turn worth a crap and I took the 1st turn just fine and im sure i was going faster then.. Also dont recall seeing the stability control kick on.. sure as hell didnt feel it working. As far at the totaling.. I guess it will really depend on how messed up the drivetrain is.. No tire movement.. So who knows.. Also it's got 113,300 on the clock. Parting out wouldnt work for me.. got 3 cars in the drive already and 2 in the garage, so no room. I drove to the lot i thought itd be at and saw it. They were closed and had the good side of the car was all I could see. Ill get to it tomorrow.. Give my report tonight.

But I gotta say this: These heavy FWD cars + snow = no good. Everyone thinks FWD is good in the snow; they're wrong. These cars spin tires easily in snow, and because of the weight, they will only go straight. The momentum, and the fact that your only way of turning (front wheels) were probably spinning even just slightly, means you will go straight. It doesn't matter how slow you go. If your wheels slip, you are screwed. I almost had an accident going 5 miles per hour, just coming out of a stop light. Go figure. I wish these cars were RWD. |

Also get it towed to a shop to have it looked at. I will take some pics and attempt to load them up here. But all I know is the drive shaft was snapped and it appears the steering also. Front bumper, front fender and door would need replacing. Still a toss up on totaling or repairing.. But ive been checking around at a possible new car.. I'm kind of got my eye on an 05' STS.. FWD sucks! and the 05's had the option for AWD which would be great out here.

Ive been without my 99 for 2 weeks now. It seems to be a fine line whether they total or not. My interior is like brand new and they took that into consideration, i guess because of "replacement" costs. But i would think when you get into the drivetrain and the FWD components that can jack the repair bill up. I think your on the right track finding a new one. |

In a way I hope they will total it.. Though I did work my a$$ off for 2 years to pay for it.. Then to have problem after problem and a crappy warranty to top it all off. It's still my baby but I would get the most for it if it was totaled. But the police hold is still on the car so I wasnt able to check it out (damn police!). So hopefully I will get to it tomorrow.
