I suppose if he gives me great deal on that engine, I can at least get the car road worthy again. If he puts 4 month warranty in writing, I use credit card to pay him, that would protect me in case something odd happens.

You don't! That's the problem... We've had too many people come on the board with deals on 60-70K engines. How many cars out there have 70K?!?!?

So far his 700 labor charge is lowest I have seen.

If you could verify his work it might be worth taking a chance but I am a little less trusting of people I don't know. I don't mean to rain on your parade...I just think it sounds a little too good.

When I told her about the engine, she was insisting on asking for referrances. Now however, I think she is leaning towards putting a sign, "For Sale As Is." Basically, its her car from before we met, so she has final say.

I have a slight knock sound coming from my engine. I was considering getting that N* on eBay with an unlimited mileage warranty /3 yrs.

I found a local shop that would install it for $750. You should grab the phone book and start calling engine shops, etc. Ask how much to replace the engine.

The ebay folks will even pay to have your engine shipped to them. Would be interesting to see what they find out about it.
