Quick question, I was wondering if there is any route for the coolant to enter the cylinders besides havinga blown head gasket.. thanks!

Re: burning coolant - head gasket?

Off the top of my head, I can't think of any. Do a cylinder pressure test if you suspect a head gasket.

Re: burning coolant - head gasket?

If the block was cracked, would there also be coolant in the oil? Have you checked your oil? From what I understand, coolant cannot get into the oil from a blown head gasket. A sort of process of elimination....

The 4.1 engines had problemswith the intake manifold gaskets. If the oil looks like chocolate milk, pull over , ahve it towed home. They have to be replaced. I had a '86 Deville, and before the gaskets could blow, the cam flattened at 135,000 miles from a supplier who used substandard steel.
