hey there !!! problem resolve!! seams that there was 3 wires melting on the engine... wich one i dont know .. they changed the wires and the car runs Fine!!! i drove it for 4 hrs last night to make sure !! hehe

Only lil proble .. i see the temp gage go a LIL over the mid line ... on my old engine .. it started like that and then a couple of weeks later the engine was over heating all the time ( blown head gasket) .. should I do a pressure check on the 8 pistons ? ... and there is also LOTs of white smoke ..comming out .. (it is -0 over here .. so im not sure if it's just condensation) ...

well guys!!! thanks! alot! my caddy is back on the road after 2 months of waiting!!! lol

thanks!

Glad your car was fixed.

Double check the coolant level if overheating. if okay then I would look into a pressure test and some other stuff which I can't remember.

Smoke could be condensation, but did you have that before the fix (or did you not use the car). I am just saying compare and see if the car should be smoking like it is.

If the head gasket went on the old motor then there might be coolant in the exhaust still and that would be the smoke you are seeing.

If it's getting too hot,

1. Check the coolant level. If it's low, fill it up and look for leaks. Some leaks may not appear untill the engine is running at operating temperature.
2. Check the Water Pump belt. If it's getting old it may be streched and slipping.
3. Check the Water Pump belt tensioner. If the spring is becomming weak, the belt may be slipping.
4. If you still haven't found the problem, Check for cloggs, starting with the Purge line running along the cam cover to the top of the surge tank, then the Thermostat, then hoses and radiator.

I just like to go from easiest to check to hardest like that.

Re: 98 STS stalling on idle Help plz!!

This just happened to my 2001 STS after taking it in for its 60K service. It ran fine but when I got off the interstate and slowed down, it would stall most of the time. I took it back to the dealer and they found the air filter cover was loose causing air to bypass a sensor which caused the engine to run lean. Something as simple as that and now its running great other than oil consumption issue.
