(Note, prices are Canadian)

Crank Shaft Sensors - $170.45 plus tax. Labor - $123.

Waterpump Gasket - $13.20 plus tax. Labor - $172.20

Do these prices all sound reasonable? Thanks.

Re: Labour Quote = Reasonable?

After replacing my waterpump belt and seeing how they would have to get to the pump area to replace the gasket, i would say even if that was american dollars that would be almost reasonable, to me at least...I don't think I am confident enough to remove all that stuff that has to come off.

As to the CSS...I can't remember, I was just at my dealer a few weeks ago where a Deville owner had to have his replaced, i forgot what the service guy told him.

EDIT: According to www.rockauto.com the AC Delco part cost for one Crankshaft Position Sensor is ~$30.00 AC Delco# 213345

Re: Labour Quote = Reasonable?

Iametarg, are you thinking of the crossover gasket when you say "I don't think I am confident enough to remove all that stuff that has to come off." You ain't gonna get away for $172 labor on that.

Jokerallard, are you talking about the pump cover gasket or the pump "O" ring? $172 labor is way to high for a cover gasket I would think.

Re: Labour Quote = Reasonable?

Ranger, maybe I am. I thought the larger pulley at the bottom of the water pump belt triangle was the water pump. is it something else? Is the top pulley on that belt triangle the pump?

Re: Labour Quote = Reasonable?

Not sure. I can't picture it well enough to say for sure, but there are only 3. Cam driven, tensioner & pump pully.

I can't speak to the pump... But my Canadian Dealer charged me $60CAN (including tax) each for the sensors... It takes about 20 minutes to install them...

A fair price to do this would be closer to $200CAN not $300 (ouch!)

Once you know how, replaceing the sensors is only slightly harder then changing the motor oil.
