Rear turn Signal gone Psyco

Remove this ad
Alright, I'm posting to see if anyone's had a similar problem.

The right rear turn signal acts has if the bulb is out. (Fast blinker) ALL other signals are GOOD. I've:

- Replaced the 2057 bulbs (Both on that side)
- Replaced the mini fuses associated with the Turn signals
- Replaced the mini fuses associated with the Stop/tail lights

There are (2) 2057 bulbs in each side of the rear lights. Only the outside bulb on the passenger side rear is dim when using the right turn signal. (The inward 2057 is fine) All other exterior lights work fine.

What's next?

Re: Rear turn Signal gone Psyco

Inspect the bulb sockets for damage; could be fried (discolored), bent connector tabs, corrosion (green is not good), or something else that does not belong there.

Also inspect the wire harness to the sockets for nicks and cuts. Be sure to follow the wire to the ground block. Check the ground block to body connection; it should be tight and surgically clean.

Second on the sockets. I had the same issue on my previous '96 STS. Go to the dealer and buy new sockets...they come with wire pigtails making them easy to splice in.

Re: Rear turn Signal gone Psyco

I have inspected the suspect socket to death!!!! It's as clean as new....

I'm beginning to wonder if it's either a harness short ... OR the turn signal switch.....
