Broken seatback locks on 92-02 Eldorado

As with most 2-door cars with a backseat (Camaro/Mustang/Eldorado/Firebird/Thunderbird) the device which keeps the front seatbacks locked vertically has been broken on both front seats. If someone wants to get in the back, they don't have to lift that little lever on the back of the seat to tilt the front seatback forward. Has anyone ever tried repairing these? How much does it cost? It's about the only thing on my ETC that's broke.

Maybe it isn't broken. My car's seats will move up without using the lock if it is done smoothly and slowly. But if it is a sudden jerk, it will lock (for crashes I guess).

Nope not broken that is how its supposed to work the button is for emergency exits after an accident.
