Thanks for the info the heat shield.

Danbuc, you did the billet mount right? I remember talking to you about that.

Yeah, the company that bought out RSM when they folded said they stopped making them because of too much vibration transfer from the engine. To be honest, it's really not that bad at all. I only notice it a slight bit the first week or so after I installed it, but I'm used to it now. I'd have to drive one without ti to notice a difference.

I just replaced my front motor mount on my DTS. Pretty much like Cad tech said. Not too hard of a job to do. I replaced my mount with GM part and used the heat shield kit. The hardest part actually for me was maneuvering the mount and brace out after everything was unbolted. I did not remove the fans as it was suggested. Another tip I should mention is to use a jack with a block of wood under the oil pan to lift the engine to give yourself some extra room to manuever the brace out. No special tools were needed, but I would suggest getting a long extension to get to the 2 bolts that mount the brace to the engine. Here are some pictures (everyone loves pictures) of the new mount and shield and of the old mount. As you can see in the pictures, my old mount was a complete failure and yes, the fluid from it went everywhere when I turned it over. Have a shop rag ready to sop it up when you are trying to get it out. My mount was to the point that you could actually see/feel the engine rocking in the cradle. The difference of before and after is VERY noticeable. No more of the big "clunk" when putting the vehicle into gear, or the knock/bump during on-off acceleration, and it is silky smooth on the highway with no vibration. I would also attribute the bad mount to the premature failure of the half-axles that I replaced. I have that posted in Tech Tips http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...placement.html (CV axle Halfshaft replacement)

Support the engine by putting a block of wood and jack(stand) underneath the steel plate tha connects the engine and transmission.
The N* oil pan is not a heavy casting and too much pressure on the bottom of the pan will really ruin your day.
