Not ALL Northy's leak oil...

I just happened to be doing a D&C on my coolant this morning, and thought I'd take a couple of snaps of the Eldo's undercarriage. This, if nothing else, is proof that not ALL Northstars leak oil or other various fluids...last time I saw a bottom this clean, my fiance was getting out of the shower.. lol

DAMN! That IS clean. I don't think mine is that clean. I'll have to look again next time I am under there.

Can't really take any credit for it, per se - I had the car out yesterday for a quick trip to the SuperFresh for Ice Cream, but it sat for about three days in the rain we had here this week. It's not like I drove through a bunch of rainwater to clean it off or anything either. It just that I hate to see the random poster saying (or quoting a self-proclaimed 'expert') "All Northstars Leak Oil" or some such rot when it's patently not true. Those of us with well-performing cars that do not present any problems need to make our voices heard sometimes.

Well said! The very few "problems" on my Seville are all due to wear and tear or routine maintenance in my book!

Seriously, my '97 SDV leaked the proverbial quart every 1500 miles or so,,,,UNTIL I switched to MOBIL 1 synthetic - guess what? no more leaking. go figger,,,,,,

Very nice Jim. Looks just like my '97 (after the halfcase reseal under warranty), my daughters '99, my '02 & '03.

Now, any chance of some pics of the other bottom you speak of?

Good job guys. Both of mine look much worse than that. I add about a quart of oil for every three tank-fulls of gas.

I wonder if it's a gasget or something easy that could be replaced.

Could be the oil filter adapter gasket (easy fix), or the pan gasket (not so easy) or the halfcase (engine removal).

MY STS is just as clean, hasnt leaked or burnt any oil in the 3 weeks ive had it, I'm thoroughly impressed, expecially considering old folks had it before me and ran *gasp* 87 in it! a few tanks of 93 and several WOT runs and shes running lovely

Looks nice and clean. When I owned the '93 Allante, it was like that. That thing didn't leak or burn a drop of oil. I would go about 4500 mi. before it would be down near a quart and by that time, it was time to change the oil anyway. Can't say that about the '98.

What is that little black skid plate thingy for? Mine is missing a bolt. I think the dealer left it out or didn't tighten it after changing a motor mount. What is it's purpose.
