After much soul searching, and reading the threads here about refitting Eldo exhausts, I decided to go ahead and try a couple of Super Turbos. From Summit, they were only 39 bucks each, free shipping. My local Meineke said they could pop them on with no problem. I ordered the 17762 2" offset in, center out design, as a fellow Eldo poster has specified.
Wish me luck. If they ship Monday (as Per Summit Website) they'll arrive by next Thursday, I would like to get them on by the time of the NJ Meet on 6/17...
I'm too old to crawl around under there myself, that's why I'm having Foreman's Friends do it...
Edit: I just put the cart before the horse and measured my mufflers. 20" long edge to edge. The 17762 muffler is only 14" long. I have to get hold of Summit and change part numbers to Dynomax's #17746, which is 20" long. Other than that they seem to be the same...dopey me should have measured first....no harm done though....
Look up doofus in the dictionary - there's my picture.

They're on. $100 and 45 minutes at the Meineke shop. Slipped right on. Used the #17746 model = 20" length. Guy had to trim the ends about 1/2" each, fit my stock tips right back on.
I'm a little surprised, they seem to be a teeny bit QUIETER at the tail pipe than the stock was, at idle. But on the road they are there - nice low rumble, at about 2000 rpm it starts to become deeper.. have not had a chance to really blow it out today, but I noticed while getting on an on-ramp that above about 4000 rpm, the engine drowns out the exhaust note, at least inside the car.
Any interest in video with sound, I can shoot with my camera and post on my website for download...let me know. |

The inside pipe diameter is nice on the Dynomax, unlike the stock muffler that constricts to about 1" and some inside--so you have a lot less backpressure. Can you feel it?
My stock mufflers were 20" and I put in the 14" mufflers because I wanted the car to be a little louder. The pipe adapters make up for the length difference. I installed them myself with clamps but the tips are not perfect due to the adapters.
I completely agree with you that at above 4000 RPM or so the sound from the engine overshadows the sound coming out the back end.
Oh... and where's this video you promised? hehe |

I like the sound between idle and about 30 - nice, deep burble..on the road, it's hardly noticable at all - although yesterday on the NJTP I had the opp. to take her up to 95 or so whilst I had to pass some backmarkers, and it sounded nice when I punched it.. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
