    1st gear launch?

Reason Im asking is because i heard that if you leave it in 1st and launch from a stop it will bounce off the rev limiter which means longer and harder shifts....

also would i have to shift the gears myself? Or would it do it automatically

I drive my STS like that all the time. I'm a little harder on it than perhaps I should be However, if you do let it rev up high enough it will shift on it's own. I don't recommend it though, you go right up and over the power curve and start to flatten out. Simply put it in first and punch it, when it gets close to the redline and you feel it start to flatten out the power curve then shift. And if you mess up it'll shift for you so you don't blow the engine.
