    Exclamation Help !!

yesterday I did a couple of WOT's and to my enjoyment there was no smoke and the car was running fine. Later that night I noticed a sound coming from under the hood. At first I thought it was the truck in front of me but I thought wrong, it was my caddie sounding like a truck and as I set at the redlight i could smell exhaust coming through the vents. There's no real way I can see under the heads but from the sound it's coming from the right side of the engine. With the hood up when i pull the throttle cable there is a loud flapping sound. when the car idles you hear the sound for a minute and then it blends in. To give you an idea of the sound if it was a older model chevy or regal that sound would be expected. I know this is vague but it's hard to put in words. Anyone have any idea what has happened to my baby??

I don't think its none of the above. what ever happened or is happening is occurring around the right exhaust manifold. The engine is fine as for as running is concerned. At idle and low rev's it sounds like the car has pipes on it except the sound is coming from that part of the engine and not the back of the car. There is no loss of performance just the annoying sound.

It really does sound like you blew the exhaust manifold gasket.

So the old Italian Tuneup aka WOT has some problems.

It is possible that your engine mounts are soft. The torque opened up or cracked the exhaust manifold or gasket. You could have also blown the gasket out.

I do prefer to do it chemically. I have also heard that water injection works wonders.

    Re: Help !!

Thanks for the info, luckly none of the above has occurred. Today I grabbed the flashlight and took a look. It seems that the tube that comes off of the exhaust manifold to the EGR valve has a hole in it. Has anyone ever had this occur and is it a easy fix. It looks like a simple replacement but the bottom part is damn near impossible to get to. Looks like the labor is going to kill me on this one.
