Here in Ontario, Cadillacs get looks. They're not "old guy's" cars here unless it's a Deville/DTS. In Manitoba you're feared if you drive a Caddy.
One day when it gets warmer I'll take some snapshots of my collection. Here's one of my Eldo:
It's originally from Indiana so it didn't have the front license plate mount when I got it, so I fabbed one up real quick- never got a chance to install the correct one. Right now it still has the DTS rims on it, but they're going on my '99 Deville. I've got a set of 18's for the Eldo. |

I see very little about these cars that say "old man". BTW, I think that set of DTS rims look good on the Eldorados. |

Thanks GA- I just need to tint my windows like yours. I like the look of the body colored ETC grille better than the non-touring versions. There's an easy way to fix that..... love the car GA! She's a beauty.
I agree- how can a 2 door coupe be an old man's car? Secondly, there are plenty of older guys who are young at heart and love to drive sporty toys with 400hp....
I just think the "Blade" rims look better on a Deville/DTS. I think I'll go to a 5 spoke design...
These are the rims that I'm going to mount on my '97:
I bought the set of rims and tires off a customer of mine- that's his ETC... Gorgeous car. The rims and spoiler just set it off. He's also got a mid-80's Biarittz in his garage.

His white ETC is sharp but those rims will really pop on the Crimson Pearl. Thanks for the complement. I try to keep her clean. You'd never know by the condition of the car that she's got 105K+ on the clock. |

Mine's got 204,000 miles (330,000kms) on it, and it does show a bit in some places. Nothing a bit of elbow grease and some $$ can't fix though, the car is rust free since it came from Indiana and has seen very little snow. A couple of minor things I have to fix on it. The previous owner (or an electronics shop)had messed up the center console from trying to install an aftermarket system. If you can't find the damn screws to remove the stereo, take it to someone who can. Luckily I have a replacement center console that is mint and the correct color. |

I hope mine still looks that good in another 100K. Providing I still have her at that point. I agree about messing with the radio. If you don't know what you're doing leave it alone. I've thought about changing the radio in mine for one that has either sirius or xm built in but I just can't see giving up my Bose system. |

I was considering getting rims for my ETC but I'm shading towards the keeping the wheels it came with. I like how they look, especially when the car is in motion. I do, however, want to get an aluminum billet grille, get it chromed, and then remount the Caddy badge on the front. I'm also considering getting the LED-lit low profile spoiler (like that white Eldo up there). As for the Bose system, there have been many posts complaining about problems and low sound quality from the 'overrated' Bose speakers. I have to say though, that the system in my car seems to be working perfectly and it really sounds great. I have a pretty expensive ($450 or so) system for my computer at home (which I'm listening to right now), and I still think the sound in my car is just better. I'm thinking of maybe throwing in a tube-style subwoofer in the back, opposite the CD changer, to balance out the bass and low midrange sound. I'm actually worried about having anything electrical installed in the car, because it's so high-tech anyway and I have a natural aversion to messing with a good thing.
But either way, the car as it is looks great. The previous owner maintained it well, kept good records, and really treated it nice. 300HP or not, it's a sweet ride, and it does get looks. Eldorados are kind of rare in my area I guess - I've only ever seen five or six others. Lots of Sevilles and Devilles - I guess four doors are always more popular than their coupe cousins, but the sporty nature of the coupe body really gets me going. Sometimes I'd be driving on the highway or around town and I would imagine what my car would look like to the other drivers, or pedestrians, or people looking out the windows on their office buildings watching the traffic below . . . "Civic, Camry, Taurus, some sort of Mazda, truck, Civic, Focus, beat up Neon, Camry, RAV4 - what the Heck is that?!?" Eldo's are unique looking sport/luxury hybrids on the outside. You can tell it's a comfortable car, but one that enjoys life on the edge . . .

There are only a few aftermarket rims out there that I think actually suite the Eldorados. I've had a couple of friends tell me that my stock wheels look like rims. I would like to put the billet grille in mine too but I can't afford $250 for a grille right now. As far as the Bose systems go in our cars I think they're awesome. I know the STS/SLS has a different speaker set up than the Eldo so that may be where the problems come in. The Eldorados the Bose system is 400 watts. There are individual 100 watt amps mounted and wired to each of the four speakers. Mine still works flawlessly and sounds great. It's the only factory stereo I've seen in an older model car that you can turn all the way up (not with the bass up though) and it doesn't distort at all. With the bass up the speakers will play out but so long as you don't push blowing them they're killer. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
