i just thought id throw in that my stepmom who has driven volvos, hondas, and acuras as long as i can remember recently looked at a cadillac cts. she went with the acura RL instead. not because of horsepower but because of price.

A 95 STS rated at 300hp is what I call a balanced car in its category & age. You get +19mpg in the city depending on your driving mood and +26mpg on the highway. Most new cars do have more HP but when ask them their MPG their most likely ashamed to tell you what they are getting but once you tell them you drive a Cadillac they feel confident enough to tell you but that only lasts a while till you tell them your MPG stats. You can beat most cars flooring it... but not all, as will most new cars will 13-14 yrs from now have the same problem. Then you get the added bonus of people looking at your car and saying its an old mans car and then seeing the shock in their face while you either keep up or past them by, since they didn't think you were a threat. So to keep it short love my STS wouldn't trade it but would buy a newer one. Would love to add hp but their is a balance more power more maintenance with these old cars those this is changing as time goes.. |

I just came home with a big wide smile on my face ; I raced an Audi A8 (‘07?). He started earlier and about 5 feet further, by the time I got to the next traffic lights (500-600 yard away) I was about 4-5 car lengths in front (on his lane), and the only reason I was not further is the very whet road (slipped twice while changing gears). Well on might say he was on the same road, but I would love to see the result on a dry surface. Should see the face expression in my rear view mirror . I was actually not even planning to race the guy, I was just trying to turn right soon and there was a line of cars behind. |

I love the styling of my Eldorado ("The Golden One"), and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Hell folks, I'm planning on taking it to Canada for a HG job before it even really needs it - I LOVE this car! Last time I had driven it, back in November, I was picking up a friend of mine from a bar in D-Town Albany. Driving by bar after bar, each stuffed with college girls, I got looks and waves like you wouldn't believe.
When I finally stopped in front of the right bar, no less than four girls came to my window to check me and my car out . . . I could have taken any of them home, but my gf would've been pissed! The last two girls watched another girl proposition me and get turned away, but they each still made their move. Drunk, maybe . . . college girls, definitely! Long story short - an Eldorado gets looks from the ladies. They all want to know what it is you're driving, and at the word "Cadillac", their knees go all a-quiver. Of course, Eldorados are uncommon in my area, but still . . .

Send some of those girls over here! All the girls here automatically associate any kind of Cadillac as being a grandpa-mobile (except for the Escalade). |

Well, if you're cruising in that Escalade, I'd think "gangsta rapper" would trump "old man" in the instant judgement category . . . as for Seville, I guess that might feed the impression, but it's still a rather sporty looking car. Really the only Caddy that I would automatically associate with "Grampsy" would be a Deville/DTS or a Fleetwood.
Around here, Gramps isn't known for rocking a 2-door sporty coupe like an Eldo. Where would he put the luggage when him and Grandma head south to Florida for the winter?? |

Around here you mine as well, because if it's a Cadillac, it's an old person car. Unless you drive an Escalade or XLR or something. Here, it's Lincoln = Cadillac. Can't impress unless it's a BMW or Mercedes. |

Well, now I know how the "seasoned citizens" do it . . . one day they're home and resting, the next they're just gone for three months. Always wondered how they managed to pack up the car so fast - in the middle of the night. |

I own the domain and I encourage discussion on the forums with no regard to what the original topic start date was or when the last response was made. I don't know who made up the crazy idea that it's bad to participate in old threads on forums. This isn't just something I see happening here. I see moderators on many different forums discouraging members from bringing up old topics. Our moderators should not be discouraging any type of discussion unless it's breaking a rule. |

I am 22 and traded in my 98 V6 Camaro on my 99 ETC. I got all of the "it looks like something my grandmother would drive" comments from my friends until they got in the car. I know the N* isn't the most powerful motor on the road any more but even up against these newer engines it holds it's own very well. I tell everyone that they better have something meaner than a stock GT to outrun me. And to be a 3900LB car it handles damn near as well as the Camaro I had. It would handle better if it had the proper tires on it, not the crap the previous owner installed. It's not a hard edged sports car but it was never intended to be. At any rate though it is an effortless performer. Very mild and sedate when driven easily but when the need or urge comes the car performs like something more purpose built. The car is a great all-arounder. Classy, elegant, and luxurious and also has the muscle and the technology to make the best of the situation at hand. To own one of these cars is to love them, that's what makes a Cadillac a Cadillac, and that spans all ages. At least to me anyway. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
