'03 STS Climate control reads 10-15 hotter than actual

Remove this ad
Hi All;
I have an '03 STS with a climate control problem where the climate control temp is always reading 10-15 degrees warmer than the cabin temp. The Outside Air Temp reading seems to be fine, but I have to crank the setting up to 85 just to get the inside up to 68!
Can anyone tell me where the inside cabin temp sensor is and is there anyway to find out what the computer thinks the inside temp reading is?
Any help is appreciated.
-Kev

The cabin air temp sensor is in the asperator. See that little 1" square grill to the left of the steering column? It's in there. Maybe the fan is inop, thus not pulling cabin air through the sensor. Do a search for asperator. iamatarg just replaced one and did a "How To" write up. I think it may be in the Tech Tips section.

Re: '03 STS Climate control reads 10-15 hotter than actual

Good luck Kev. I've had similar issues with my 02 STS where it initally warms the cabin to the set temperature however fails to maintain the temperature. I then have to max out the settings to warm up the cabin periodically on longer trips. My dealer indicated re-flashing the eeprom would solve the problem but I saw no improvement. Looks like the dealer will be working on it again during my next visit.

That writeup by iamatarq was pretty good. The one Ranger referred to. It's got some decent pictures and a good step-by-step.

I'd at least take a look at that, or send him a private mail, before making any big decisions....

Here's the link to iamatarq's inside temp sensor / asperator / noise in the left side of the dash how-to: http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...rd-inside.html
