    2003 Northstar Engine Cover

    Greetings

I've been looking at the cover on my engine and it does not sit straight. Kind of tilts down as if moves toward the passenger side of the car. I took it off the last time I cleaned the car to clean the under cover and intake runner area. Did I lose a spacer? Or does it just sit like that?

I don't think there are spacers. There are just the studs that are molded into the intake that holds the cover on. Did one of the studs loosen up and let one side sit high?

Yeah, I looked at it again today. Took the cover back off and It does not make sense. All the nuts are tight. Everything looks right. Oh well.

I did the same thing today when cleaning under my hood. Mine sits perfectly flush. Did you make sure the two rods in back are also in the holes?

    Re: 2003 Northstar Engine Cover

I have a 2003 Deville that did not come with an engine cover. I just purchased one from EBAY that did not come with any nuts/bolts. What type of bolts/nuts do I need to fasten it with? Thanks!

Well the stock "nuts" are just black, plastic pieces with threaded inserts. They'd be really cheap at a salvage yard. I'm not sure what the thread pattern is.

7 year old thread, not bad.

I found a picture of them on EBAY for the 90s series N*'s. They look like 10 MM retainer nuts. I'll just try the dealership. Thanks.

The plastic "nuts" are bigger than 10mm, but yeah, a dealer will have them.

............. and DO NOT get carried away with the socket wrench - strip out that metal insert and you're gonna have a fun time getting the cover off again. Just a tad more than finger tight is all it takes.
