    99 Eldo suspension question

Hi All, I have a 99 Eldo base which needs rear struts since it makes noises when i go over a road bump and slightly slides to the right. It also squeaks when i push the car up and down. i remember reading in this forum that it has both shocks and struts. but a mechanic told me it only has struts. I'M CONFUSED. Also i'm thinking of buying an aftermarket struts kit (link below), do you guys think it'll be good.
    either
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT
    Or
    at www.rockauto.com (ACDELCO Part # 51512).

so do i need just struts or both struts and shocks? and will the linked after market sets do my car any good.

    thanks for helping

I suggest getting or borrowing a Factory Service Manual. It will provide diagnostics that will answer your questions that just simply can not be questioned.

You have struts in the front and shocks in the rear.

I used the aftermarket struts from http://www.bostonsuspension.com mostly because theirs included 'widgets' to suppress the DIC message telling me I had a suspension problem. Dunno if that applies to your year vehicle.

It may be your rear knuckles not the shocks,Jack up the rear of your car and see how much play you get at the 3 and 6 o clock positions and then the 12 and 6 o clock positions. If they are worn you will get play, and the symtoms are the rear feels squirrly driving down the road, when you go over bumps the rear seems to jump to the side. and pushing on the side of the rear of the vehicle it will move quite a bit and clunk.
