    Should I buy a 94 STS for $800? It needs a flywheel

    Here is the description:

Car does not run. Ran/drove fine--flywheel broken. Bose CD, Factory Chrome wheels with very good tires, Interior good shape with heated leather seats. Good for parts or repair. Body in nice shape. 133K on car.

HOW MUCH WOULD THIS COST TO FIX?
    THANKS!

Hell yeah, I would buy it. Are you mechanicly inclined? I am pretty sure the transmission has to come all the way out, which is an utter pain in the ass. The whole subframe has to drop. It might be possible to slide the tranny out a little ways and get it out that way, but I highly doubt it.

If you need a car and can do the work, this one will fit the bill. I love my '01 STS. Right now my wife is drving it to Abluquerque. Chances are when passing a car sometime today she will hit 100 MPH without even realizing it. And she is a modest lady driver that tries not to speed. It is justt eh nature of the car that when you put your foot into it, even just a little bit, it tends to run.

Too bad I have to do the struts, I could've used that money to buy a house or something like that.

Was it diagnosed by a mechanic? I'd say there is good chance it's not the flywheel that is keeping it from running. I'm not sure, but I think the only purpose for the flywheel is to turn over the engine. I thought I needed a new flywheel on my old caddy when I diagnosed it but I checked it myself before I had it towed away. It was just the starter and I fixed it in under an hour.

If this is the case, than this means that there is something else keeping the car from running.

This is all screwed up. Here's the discussion! You should DELETE this topic and use the other one.
