I must admit that it does appear to have a framed window which may be an improvement, I don't know. It seems no matter how many match sticks I shove into my window seal, it eventually learns to whistle again at highway speeds....lol |

Here's a foto I lifted from GM...
A retrospective of the FIRST, the LAST and some OTHER(?) Eldorado.
The third one's rear end looks like the EV 1. |

Rumors point to a two door CTS when the car is refreshed in 2008 though, so a Cadillac coupe is on it's way. | Agreed. Quote: |

If they made a coupe out of the CTS, then it would be in a lower price segment (sans Premium V engine), and it would not be related to the Eldorado which traditionally was the epitome of personal luxury from the beginning. I guess it would be up against a G35 Coupe. | MB can do pretty much whatever they want and people will buy it, GM does not have this luxury. I personally think the CLS500 is fugly.
Also, where your argument breaks down is that the CLS500 and SL500 are two entirely different chassis. What Gothica and Elwesso are saying is why have a coupe version based on the same car that ALREADY has as a hard roof when its in the full upright position? The correct comparison to the CLS500 would be a DTS based coupe, as the CLS500 is a shortened two-door version of the regular S-Class.

Well the design is based on it, but not necessarily twins. I was limited to what I could photoshop.. it's not a CAD program. Ideally the two cars would look related, but different. I stretched the wheelbase, added overhangs, backseat, and increased trunk space, by making it a hardtop only.

It's not as ugly to me as at first, but I still think it's ugly. You cannot try to make a 4 door look like a coupe or it becomes ugly. The CLS is an E class though underneath, not S class. CL is S class. Remember the old W140 S class? There was a 2 door version. |

I think MT flight is the only one who knwos or "gets" what the Eldo is/was. The Eldorado was always based off the same chassis as the Seville, and it was a personal luxury coupe. The alante however, was the upscale exotic type car offered by cadillac. It was a Roadster. If they made an eldorado now, itd be the same as in 1993 with the Eldorado and Alante both being offered by caddy. The Alante will never outsell the eldo nor would the XLR if the eldo was reborn. They are two different classes of car. |
