Thumbs up fixed the 98 eldo starting prob

it was the alternator.took the old one off .went to the cadi dealer parts .bought a new alt $175.00 put it on.still wasnt charging.so i took the battery out.and had two battery shops test it.they said the battery was good.they did a crank test cell check.so i took the alt out and called the dealer he said he would order me another one. it would be in that afternoon so i took the alt to advanced.to have them check it it put out 10.0 volts .took it back to the daeler and picked up the other new alt .took it to advanced to check it out before i put it back in 15.0 volts good one .put it on the car .started it up.and the volts were at 14.0 volts runs great bright lights now.the whole car works like a cadi should.thanks for your time .rick edwin

on a 98 eldo .take battery out remove alt belt .take the two bolts that are on the front of the alt off.remove the electric fan on passenger side out of the way or i used a bungee cord and held it up hooked it on the hood latch .raised car put jack stands under.there is a plastic shield three foot wide with 10 meteric bolts.take off the alt steel plate four bolts 10 met passenger side.take the two bolts off the back of alt .put a card board to protect the radiator.slowly help the alt drop out from the bottom of car.test the new alt before putting it back in.good luck If I can be any more help let me know.Rick Edwin
