Dashboard Vent...

97 Seville STS...I was poking around my car today making sure everything was in order, and I noticed that the vent on top of the dash, the defroster vent, is loose and popped up from where it should be. Nothing serious, kind of bugs me though, I tried pushing it back down and it won't pop back into place, didn't appear to have any of the little tabs broken either. Has this happened to anyone else or am I just special...

My 99 Deville had the same problem, over on the very right corner of it. Super Glue did the trick, after a few tries to make sure I glued where it contacted the depression it sits in....

I'm probably going to endup trying to glue it down, but it's bugging me, the entire thing is loose and I can pull it up, and it seems as if the entire plastic grill is a little small for the opening...

...makes me curious, wondering if the previous owner tried screwing around with the dash or something.

Don't feel special. It is supposed to just lift out easily but, it is not supposed to warp at the ends. Been there, done that. I think the tabs where just designed a bit too small.

Glue is a great idea...I need to try that on mine.

My dashboard is warped just a little bit...that soft upper dash pad isn't very resistant to heat I guess. My car has always been garaged or sunshaded when at work, so it can't be from neglect. Anyway, the entire right half of the defroster vent doesn't "stay" when pressed all the way down. Superglue is a great idea.

mine does that too. It bugs the hell outta me.
