    Jack points

So I finally got my alternator, and going to tackle it from the bottom.

But, all I have is the factory scissor jack and 2 3 ton jack stands.

Never had to jack her up, so I don't know where. I tried a google search and it wasn't really specific.

A picture would be preferred but if you can easily explain it in words that's fine.

I just need to know where on both sides I set the jack stands, and what point(s) do I jack up with the scissor jack - if that's okay to use.

Your owners manual has jacking points listed.

DO NOT use the fender pinch weld area, it will bend, and the fender will bulge.

You can use almost any point of the cradle. The jack that came with the car IS NOT to be used as a service jack. If you must use it, FO NOT get under the car before it's lowered onto the jack stands.

I'll try and look for my owners manual. It was out of the car for a single day now it's somewhere around the house (My dad seems to like to take things and misplace them lol)

Yeah I heard all the dangers of the scissor jack. Don't want it to snap while I'm under, lol. I'd definitely get it on stands before anything.

    Re: Jack points

From the 2002 Seville service manual .............. zoom in

There are hard pads just inside the fender/body pinch weld slots, and two hard pads just outside the cradle at the inside front of the lower suspension arms - those are the ones I use for oil/filter and front wheel/hub work.

Using a hydraulic floor jack on the center of the front engine cradle crossmember (#5), with the jack pad crosshatches or slots oriented so the cradle will not slip off the jack. Be careful until you get the hang of it.

If a shop uses a 4-point body lift they WILL need to use 3" extensions at the hoist lift pads - to clear the fender/body pinchweld areas - or you wind up with bowed lower fender areas.

Northern Tool has some decent floor jack/jackstand deals.
