    VSS Wire Harness

Hi, guys. Been using Cadillac Forums for years to help diagnose problems on my '99 STS.

My issue is that on a recent rebuild of my engine to fix the infamous head gasket/bolts issues, the mechanic apparently cut the wire harness to my VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor). I had had erratic speedometer and downshifting while at speed. Using CF, I diagnosed the issue as a malfunctioning VSS. When I went to replace it, the wire pulled out in my hand.

Does anyone have the schematic for the wiring harness, so I can figure out where to splice the wires back in? Or does someone know the AC Delco parts number for the VSS wire harness? Google isn't giving me anything useful and dealerships are closed on Sundays.

    Re: VSS Wire Harness

That's the obvious choice. At this point, however, I don't want to deal with him unless it's an extremely expensive fix as it took him 3 months to get the rebuild done. If I can get to the harness myself and splice the wires, I'd rather do that and get it done in a day.

Edit: There are a handful of other reasons that make it impractical for me to take it back to him. In all reality, I'll probably get the fix and send him a bill.

Here's the connector and color code. If necessary you can extend the wiring with any color you please as long as you know which is which.

Thanks, Submariner! The connector is out of the car, along with 6" of the wire, so I believe I have a functioning connector. It's just not attached to the car.

Don't use butt crimp connectors - solder the wiring and insulate properly. Been there, done that.

    Re: VSS Wire Harness

Looks like I'm going to have to bypass because I can't find the cut wire underneath the car. Which wires on the PCM connector are the VSS wires?

on the older ones there are two other sensors near the VSS.
They all get there wires from the same bundle.
