Wise pops! You lack experience to drive such a beautiful yet powerfull car. It means he cares about it, and if you're lucky yourself as well!

Re: 2002 SLS horsepower and torque ratings ?

You remind me of myself when I first car (my eldorado) at 15.

HOW FAST CAN I GO AND WHO WANTS TO TRY AND CUT ME OFF I'LL RACE YOU.
When I didn't know ANYTHING about these wonderful cars, and just wanted to drive.
Finally was able to drive her alone at 16. No mom in the car, no rules.
First thing I did? Drive like a madman

Next thing you know a few months later I am so close to an accident from "racing" I could've lost my life, or at least a beautiful car. LIKE A DUMBASS. 70 MPH in a 30 mph zone, someone turns in my lane from a driveway. I was so close to hitting them but didn't.

After that, I drove 20 MPH all the way home. No matter what. I was frightened. Ever since then I never drove like an idiot again. I mean. All men and boys like to play with their toys once in a while, and that's normal. Just do it safely and properly.

Learn from MY mistakes and don't make the same.

Follow the law and drive safe. A few WOT runs a month on a open freeway or street. (Hard to find one in the bay area lol)

If I want to race I go to a TRACK. But I don't take my Eldorado. I glance at it as I walk to my tricked out Jeep. In fact my Eldorado never leaves the driveway unless I'm going on a relaxed drive, want to show off how clean she is, or anything of that sort.

This is golden advice bud and I suggest you listen before you even think of taking out that Monte Carlo when you get the chance, or even driving your car for that matter.

A local very good body shop has wrecked ricers stacked like cordwood. The Kent Island High School stoonts are quite good at destroying cars.

    ----------

Oh could so go one explain traction control to me like how it work I know it's like the computer limits the power so the tires don't spin but how dose it know the right amount of power to put down
Is the stud kit for a North Star worth the cost plus labor
Is it true that caddilac put weak valve springs in and the the North Star can actually red line around 8000
And why did cadillac make them fwd well besides the v seires

The traction control system monitors wheel speed. If it detects a front wheel is slipping (turning faster than the others), it intervenes by either cutting engine power (by disabling injectors), or applying the brakes to the slipping wheel/s. It doesn't allow any specific amount of power.

Is the stud kit for a North Star worth the cost plus labor
A stud kit (or inserts) are a repair for failed head bolt hole threads, not an upgrade or preventative measure. If you have failed threads, then yes, it's worth it.

GM used valve springs that are appropriate for the application. Any engine can be made to rev faster with modifications. Assuming the computer can also be tuned to take advantage of the extra revs.

And why did cadillac make them fwd well besides the v seires
Most Cadillacs were FWD through the 80's, 90's and early 2000's. Most manufacturers care were FWD throughout that time.

As for V models, so far, there's the XLR-V, STS-V, CTS-V, and ATS-V. All of which were RWD before their V variant was introduced.

could so go one explain traction control to me l
    here ya go -
    http://lmgtfy.com/?q=how+does+traction+control+work

an an excellent video here -

Is the stud kit for a North Star worth the cost plus labor
if your engine has failed head gaskets -
and you decide to spend the BIG BUCKS to fix the engine -
there are basically two methods of repair -
    inserts or studs -

the labor is the same -
    the studs cost more -

one advantage in using the studs -
the heads could be removed again - without concern -

Is it true that caddilac put weak valve springs in and the the North Star
    no -

    ----------------

you need to do your own research -
plenty of reading material in the Northstar engine forum - here -

Re: 2002 SLS horsepower and torque ratings ?

Without a forced upshift at 6,300 rpm a 2000 and later Northstar engine will easily rev to over 7,500 rpm before valve float sets in. Valve springs, valve weight, cam profile and follower weight ALL factor into a DOHC engine's rev-ability....... but if the engine is not cammed, ported, manifolded (intake and exhaust), otherwise tuned - then high rpm in and of itself is useless.

Look where the power and torque falls off in the Northstar as tuned ........... why spin it faster ???

Re: 2002 SLS horsepower and torque ratings ?

Your acronym use may be a bit incorrect - The correct names for the Cadillac FWD series of 1990s-early 2000s cars was:

STS stands for Seville Touring Sedan
SLS stands for Seville Luxury Sedan
ETC stands for Eldorado Touring Coupe
ESC stands for Eldorado Sport Coupe
Deville was the base large sedan
DHS stands for Deville High luxury Sedan
Concours was a Deville trim variant
DTS stands for Deville Touring Sedan.

The later CTS, STS, XLR, DTS, XTS, etc. models have no real names - only acronyms. Seville died in 12/03 and Deville was dropped in the end of 2005.

Pre '05 STSs and SLSs (Sevilles) are FWD. '05+ STSs (not Sevilles) are RWD or AWD.
