JL9 basically means standard brakes with ABS. Jl9 for the Seville were single piston calipers, slightly smaller rotors (pictured on the previous page) There was no optional larger brake option (which would have been RPO CODE JE5).

The dual piston caliper/larger rotor setup I installed is JL9 on other models, but not the Seville. If you have a dual piston setup, it's not stock.

The Seville and Eldo got bigger brakes in '97. I think yours would be the same part numbers as my first set.

The paint that comes on them from most aftermarket brake part manufacturers/remanufacturers is pretty poor. A dedicated caliper paint, designed to hold up to the heat and environment of a caliper, will last much longer. I find it easier, overall, to remove the calipers for paint. Clean them, sand them, and clean them again. Hang them by some wire and follow the instructions on the can. Should last several years. ----------

Half assed painting setup using a broom a neighbor threw out:

It was way too low to the ground, so I ended up having to lift it to get to every part.

    Came out nice though:

Haha. Actually, I found a really nice set of caliper covers. Flat black, with white "Cadillac" script for the fronts, "STS" script for the rears. You really would't be able to see them through my rims though.
