How the heck do I fix this?

Not sure what it's called, but it came loose and it's hard to shift into park now.

It's that damn grey thing below the shifter knob?

It's loose on both ends and it's making it hard to shift into park, or anything for that matter. What do I do? take it out or?

Once my internet stops sucking, I'll try to find the specific name, but this may help:

It's right below the shifter knob, and it moves with the shifter, like a belt. For now I'll go by name "The Shifter Belt thingy"

Here's a picture of it, loose of course.

    Is this one unrepairable?
that depends on what's broken -
    but usually not -

how do I get it off?
remove the shift knob thingy -

then remove that other wood trim thingy -

that should expose the shifter belt thingy -

be careful when removing the wood trim thingy -
there are wires attached to the switch thingies -

    lol

Flathead screw driver to remove the U-Clip holding the shifter knob down, it faces the heater/ac controls.

Once off, the assembly comes off in 4 clips, using a flathead, gently pry it from the plastic underneath the woodgrain, start from the edge closest to the cup holders. Once loosend, lift it up, dont yank it. Remove the seat heater electrical connections and the PRNDL electrical connector.
