2004 Seville STS/SLS where available in Canada, aswell the actual 2004 STS, Figure that out? both had the 04 engine though, with individual coils... etc

i just realized im going to need to update the production numbers the 2004 production numbers posted for the STS is for the Seville, not the STS i will add that in asap

It looks like GM made some changes to the 2004 Northstar. Are these changes only cosmetic? (The engine cover covers the whole top of the engine.)

Different ignition system. Individual coils instead of coil cassettes.

Thank you. I just found out this car spent most of it's life around Vancouver BC with an average of 10,000 miles per year. This is good news since cars in Vancouver don't rust.

I'm going to Canada this Saturday to look at this Seville. If it's clean, I'm getting it!

Re: Importing a Seville from Canada

I'm in Canada. Here's the deal.

Car is in a little worse shape than I thought. All the wheels are delaminating. It has had paint work on the front clip and rear door. Front bumper has some damage if you look up close. I think the bumper cover will have to be replaced. Interior is okay. There is evidence of pet hair in the back seat area and ash in the ash tray, but it smells okay. Rear shock makes noise and will have to be replaced. The bottom of the oil pan is wet.

The best they will do is $5,500 USD. It is a 2004 Seville STS black on black with Navigation. 101,000 miles on the clock.

    PLUS -
it needs new wheels - $1000 - minimum

I think the bumper cover will have to be replaced
    another $1000 -

Rear shock makes noise and will have to be replaced.
going with the F55 rear shocks -
rock auto has them for $618 LEFT - and $676 RIGHT -
    so - thats another $1300 -

so that puts this car at $8800 -

The bottom of the oil pan is wet.
    oil leak - $2500 - minimum -

that ups it to $11,300 -

WALK AWAY - and DON'T EVEN LOOK BACK -

What would it cost to convert the whole car to the SLS type suspension?

Passive shocks and struts (~$300 for both strut assemblies, ~$50 for both shocks) and a $1.19 pack of resistors.

The car you described is barely worth $2K, just walk.

    ======================
that would definitely lower the cost -
    struts - Monroe 71685 - $65 each = $130 -
    shocks - Monroe MA822 - $58.35 -
    resistor pack -

total around $200 for front and rear PASSIVE parts - PLUS LABOR -

    =================

but that would defeat part of the purpose of searching out an STS -

and you are still stuck with a crappy car -
that has had body work - and needs more body work -

and still has oil leaks -

    ------------------

this just is NOT the RIGHT car -
DON'T SETTLE FOR SOMETHING LESS -

besides - if you are willing to go to a new passive suspension -
why not fine a REALLY NICE SLS -

and if you MUST - put an STS emblem on it -

Re: Importing a Seville from Canada

These things (Sevilles and Eldos) are getting harder and harder to find in good condition at reasonable prices. Especially from sellers who don't know much about them, and have no idea how much they cost to maintain.

    ----------

Oh, by the way. Eldo got totalled the other day. My son had it parked at a friends house and someone did a hit and run and smashed up the rear pretty good. $8,500 in damage. Get this though. The police located the guy and he had insurance. Will wonders never cease? Insurance Co. has paid me, but still has not picked up the car. I wonder if they will abandon it. If so, there are some good parts. Brakes were brand new, tires are good. The engine is studded by Joe with NSP studs and runs like new with 147,000 on the clock.

    ----------

    Brand new EGR valve too.
