    Multi Disk Error

    Hi all,
I tried the 6 CD changer for the fist time today on my 2000 STS after it initializes and I try to play a CD I get the error "Multi Disk Error" any ideas on why this is?

I tried all 6 CDs and they were all standard CDs not MP3 disk or recordable CDs.

    Thanks,
    James

I guess I could have put them in upside down. I will try the other way tomorrow. Thanks.

.......... and eject the disk cassette, close the door, then fully insert it again. Once in a while this clears the "source not found" icon on the HU.

    Re: Multi Disk Error

Just an update and correction. I tried the CDs both ways still getting the error. My mistake the error actually reads "CD CHANGER ERROR".

    Thanks for the replies,
    James

    that changes things -

there are only 2 screws that retain the changer in the console -

remove the screws - pull the unit out - un-plug the unit -

turn the ignition ON - play the radio for a couple minutes -

turn the ignition OFF - plug the changer in - turn the ignition ON -
try the CD changer again -

if you get the same error - post the MODEL NUMBER here -

there was a dramatic change in the electronics in 2002 -
a 2002 or newer CD changer will NOT work in a 2001 and older car -

only CD changers originally from a Cadillac Deville or Seville will work -
even though they all LOOK identical -
units from other GM cars will NOT work in a Deville or Seville -
