Okay guys, so I just changed my intermediate steering shaft on my 2001 Seville STS to resolve the popping noise while turning left, the job is not that difficult but doing it
yourself requires patience and lots of back and forth from under the car to inside the car and back under the car. I used standard 3 ton jack stands and was able to maneuver around enough under the car to get the intermediate shaft replaced, however the previous re-lube solution preformed by the dealer was less than ideal as the silicone boot
going through the firewall has been sliced open and the steel wire reinforcement was cut, apparently to provide access to the shaft retaining bolt, so now I have the new
intermediate shaft installed but I will have to go through the whole process again to replace the silicone boot, what a pain in the ass!
I cant seem to find the silicone boot on Rock Auto or GM parts giant, does anyone know where I can order a replacement set, (the boot is actually two silicone boot pieces that fit together).the silicone boot being cut is now allowing fumes from the engine bay to enter the cabin so any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks.
