Cadillac Seville / Cadillac Eldorado Forum Discussion, 84 Biarritz Convertible Electrical problem in Past Cadillac Vehicle Discussion; I just noticed after getting one of my convertibles ready for spring that I have an electrical problem.
passenger seat ...
Hi Ralphie, when I bought mine, many of the door switches didn't work. I removed them from the doors, cleaned them up with some electrical contact cleaner and q tips, reconnected and most or all functions worked. The switches are like 1960s technology. They're poorly designed and they seem to separate on their own. And seems they can get dirty easily. Try cleaning them.

Re: 84 Biarritz Convertible Electrical problem
The plug in connector for the door switches is connected vertically to the switch. Its held in place by at least one blue twist on lock the size of a dime. I've seen those missing which allows for the switch to loose contact after years of slamming the door. The same for the reflector bulb in the lower door. Years of slamming can break the filament.
Thx for the replies, I have an update here and after moving the door light clip around it now works. So the next thing is the door locks.
When I hit the driver OR PASSENGER side I hear the relay but the locks don't work. TWO BAD SWITCHES???
Next is the power seat switch on the pass side. The switch is good cause I took it out of my other Biarritz but seat still does not work
and last is when you open the convertible top on these cars the windows go down automatically. All except the passenger window.
I found out what the problem was, behind the glove box near the replay for the door locks is another relay that was wired in, one side was disconnected from a cli. I reconnected and now both the door locks and passenger seat works.
