    14.5 Average MPG

Does it make sense that I am constantly getting 14.5-16.5 Average MPG?? I have not been able to get better then that and I drive 45 mins to work all highway the whole time.

I checked for codes for the SES Light comes on and then off every once in a while.

The only code that comes up is............. P056 not sure what that means and can't find that code when searching the archives of this forum.

Any tips on getting better gas milage??

95 STS with 92K. Just changed the oil last weekend and practice WOT once a week. Only had the car for alittle over a month.

Can anyone tell me what WOT is?...Im a new cadillac owner and im trying to catch up on things
    I jsut bougt a 1992 seville with 110K
Awesome condition with the exception of loud exhaust and a few others
Im getting new exhaust and a tune up tomorrow
but for some reason the digital gauges is saying im only getting between 6-10 MPG in the city,,,is this correct or should i go by regular gas gauge?
Also when i step on the gas it flutters a bit then its fine...feels like a clog or something
    any information will be appreciated

    WOT = Wide Open Throttle

I have read in this forum that its good to practice about once or twice a week.

You should really get yours on the highway and leave it in 2nd gear. Get her up to 50 then floor it. Hold it until it almost redlines i think its about 6,500rpms.

That might clear up the studder you are experiencing.

First things first... Do you have the the 4.9L engine or is it a 32V Northstar?

The WOT is prescribed for the Northstar, not sure about the 4.9L.

    Google search: P056 OBD

    Result:

http://myweb.accessus.net/~090/dtcobd1.html (great website by the way)

    Down the page:
    P056 (E056) ........... Transmission Input Speed Sensor

EDIT: Do a search for P056 here on the forum. Some posts I read indicated that Torque Converter Clutch was disabled due to the code, meaning it could explain your low MPG.

The next question: is it current? or history? I believe on your version OBD it should have an H if it's history (happened in the past).

Apparently this sensor is a bear to replace, but it is very sensitive to electronic noise, so you may be able to simply figure out where the wires are and see what the culprit could be. Otherwise it is the provervial $20 switch located $1000 inside the transmission.

Do the search and find out what you come up with, good luck.

hey George, you should post a brand new message on the main Seville forum, otherwise your post is getting lost inside Tony's...

I am not an expert... but you can visit the link I posted to see what the OBD codes are.

Also figure out if they're "History" or "Current" Clear out the codes, and see which ones come back.... then deal with those only. (baby steps)

    Re: 14.5 Average MPG

I should have mentioned that I have already cleared the codes and P056 is the only one that keeps comin back.
