hey George please post in the main Seville/Eldo forum... or even the 4.9L forum.

Your post is lost in here...

I don't have any experience with your generation OBD, so I can't help you there.

No, the fuel will leak into the intake manifold.

The frequency of the WOT should be reasonable.
No need to do WOT so often if there are no black smoke from exhaust. Make it biweekly and see if black smoke comes back. I bet you'll not see it. Do that as often as you get any black smoke.

I know twice a week might be too much considering I have never seen black smoke come out the exhaust. It's just that she begs to go fast,....it's really hard not to.

But I will take your advise. Not gonna WOT for atleast a month.

    Tony,

I'm hardly an expert. I've only had my '95 ETC since August of last year. I haven't had a problem with it at all, ecept it gets dirty when I drive it in the rain. Apparently Cadillac has'nt addressed that problem, yet.

Try this........Fill your tank and reset your MPG indicator. Then, if you can, turn off the display and drive the car for the full tank. Pay no attention to the display. That will be your average mileage. It will not have anything to do with the previous indication.

I drive 50/50 highway and local. I am averaging 22 miles to the gallon. When I first got the car it appeared to be stuck below 16 mpg. Once ir was reset, I became a very happy camper.

Let us know what you find out.

    Ed

First off you just bought the car so the MPG will be low for a little while. Mine was down 14-15 for a while when I bought it, now I am around 16.2 overall and I like to get on it. Don't expect higher than 16-17..it is a STS.

The WOT runs are for Northstar engines to keep the rings free. They tend to use oil when the rings are carboned up. You really don't need to do it on a 4.9, they're usually much better on oil consumption.

You erase the codes by going into each test and pressing clear codes.
