    P0385 and P0386 - 2000 STS

I installed new crankshaft position sensors then tried to start the car. It only turned
over but did not fire. I had to move the car so i re-installed the old sensors and the
car fired right up. Can anyone possibly tell my why it didn't start with the new sensors?

That's a good one ......... were the "new" sensors - one gray, one black - made by DENSO and packaged by AC Delco ?

The sensors in the 2000 and later cars are different both electrical-connector wise and mechanically - they only fit the correct hole with correct connector.

obviously one or both units you got have a problem - are defective -

do not use anything except genuine Delco units -

amazon.com has the best deal -
    ACDelco 213-1578 - $37.25 - with shipping -
    and 213-1579 - $39.95 - with shipping -

    Re: P0385 and P0386 - 2000 STS

I purchased the sensors online from AM-Auto parts. One was gray and the other black and where new. I went
to several auto parts store in my area and the sensors all look the same as the new ones I have. The sensors
in the car have a cup angle on the tips that go next to the crank. All the new sensors are blunt on the end.
has the part been redesigned and would this make a difference? Thank you for your help!

The only change that I am aware of was the supplier in 2003.

Not sure if that would make any difference or not. Where they A/C Delco sensors?
